Christopher A. Emery

Christopher Emery has 22 years of experience in numerical modeling and analysis of urban and regional photochemical air quality and mesoscale meteorology. His areas of expertise include design, development and application of various air quality modeling systems. He has applied these modeling platforms for numerous private and public clients, in both local and regional regulatory arenas. His projects have included ozone, particulate and carbon monoxide State Implementation Plans; determination of the effects of alternative and unconventional control strategies; analyses of source attribution and sensitivity; fate of toxics; prospective and retrospective regional air quality studies; estimates of North American background ozone; and source impacts on national parks and wilderness areas. Since joining ENVIRON in 1995, Chris has co-authored the Comprehensive Air quality Model with extensions (CAMx)—a regional nested grid photochemical and particulate model with Plume-in-Grid and Probing Tool extensions—while also managing the development and public distribution of CAMx (www.camx.com). Chris has developed and evaluated meteorological fields for numerous urban and regional air quality modeling projects in the central and western United States using various diagnostic and prognostic platforms (MM5, WRF, RAMS, CALMET). He has developed interface software to translate meteorological data to several air quality modeling platforms.
